New Year's Eve Champagne Nail Art

Hi guys. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and got plenty of naily treats (this year I got a few little nail-related things, and I'm planning on putting together a haul in the very near future, so keep checking back). Anyway, now that Christmas has drawn to a close it's time to turn our attention to the new year. I never really do anything overly exciting on NYE - it's always far too busy and expensive,  so I much prefer a quiet night in with a home cooked meal and a bottle of wine (or two). But just because I don't have a glamorous New Year's Eve, there's no reason I can't have glam nails...

Nail Polish Storage #2

Hi everyone. Today I have a slightly different post to share with you. Earlier this week I had my standard seasonal clear out, and along with getting rid of three huge bin bags of clothes (!), I decided to organise and rearrange my dressing room. When I got started on my nail art equipment, I realised I never did an updated nail polish storage post... and we moved house nearly two years ago! So if you'd like to see how a self-confessed nail polish addict stores and organises her collection, keep on reading.

Pastel Snowflakes & Polkadots Nail Art

Hello everyone and happy Sunday! This weekend has been an extremely lazy one, involving Christmas decorations (I'm going for a rose gold theme this year, which is sitting very nicely with my boyfriend), tea-drinking, festive films and of course, a little bit of nail art. I decided to do a snowflake design, and opted for pastel colours with a hint of deep purple.

Lipstick Kisses Nail Art

Hi everyone! Today I have a very cute but rather random nail art design to share with you...

You're probably thinking that this type of nail art is best suited to another time of year (February 14th, to be precise). But if you really think about it, these nails are really not that irrelevant at all. For starters, it's so bloody grey and dreary outside, it's nice to brighten things up a little with a super sparkly, Valentine's-inspired design. Secondly, and without wanting to go into too much detail, there are so many hideous things going on in the world right now, why not channel some love and positivity? Finally (and I've got to admit that I've only just realised this) my lipstick kisses nails have  a Parisian feel about them. Bold, romantic, modern yet classical, they're a subtle nod to the city of love. Of course, I understand that my little old nails are hugely insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but it's always nice to share the sentiment that lies behind the scenes.

Purple Icicle Nail Art

Hi guys. Today I decided it was about time I do some wintry nail art. While we're still in the midst of autumn, and there are more high speed winds and bursts of torrential rain (cheers Storm Abigail!) than frost, snowflakes and what-not, I couldn't resist a sparkly, icicle-inspired manicure. It also meant I could try out the 'waterfall' technique that nail bloggers have been showcasing for years, especially as I recently dug out some thin liner paintbrushes that I completely forgot I owned.

Black & Blue Floral Brushstroke Nail Art

Hi guys. Today I want to share a design that I've created for the bonprix and Barry M #partypolished blogger contest. I noticed the competition on Twitter, and since I haven't painted my nails for a good few weeks, what better excuse to whip out the nail polish and create a party-inspired design?

Pink Criss-Cross Nail Art

Hello! Today I have a really quick post to share the criss-cross nails I did over the weekend, inspired by the lovely Nail Storming. I used various shades from super pale pink (Sinful Colors Easy Going) through to a deep cerise (Fearne Attention Seeker), and then added the white details using China Glaze White On White and a striping brush. Here are a couple more shots of my pink criss-cross nail art... I hope you like them!

Gelly Sandwich Nail Art With USpicy

Hi guys. Today I have something a little bit different to share with you - my very first gelly sandwich manicure with the help of USpicy's UV Professional Nail Lamp*. It's around that time of having far too much month at the end of my money, so I didn't fancy investing in any gel polishes (a bit of a step-up from my usual £5-per-polish limit!) However, I knew that I could get hold of gel base and top coats for a more purse friendly price, and then just use a standard polish in between for a gelly sandwich mani!

Sparkly Snakeskin Nail Art | Tutorial

Hi everyone! Today I've created some sparkly snakeskin nails, after finding out that Coloristiq, the UK's first nail specific beauty box, have launched a competition for safari-inspired nails on their Facebook page. I wanted to get involved, and though I'm not really sure how safari-esque sparkly snakeskin nail art is, hopefully I've gotten away with it!

Pink Floral Nail Art | Tutorial

Hi! I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. I've spent this Saturday doing what I do best - chilling out in the house with the cat, painting my nails and doing the odd bit of cleaning/washing/general housewifery - all topped off with a glass or two of wine, of course! I also spent a good few hours filming my very first video tutorial, which is uploading as we speak. I found it so much more difficult than I expected, and have a newfound respect for vloggers. It takes a lot more patience, creativity and intelligence than people realise. Big up to all you YouTubers!

Yellow Tribal Nail Art

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I want to share the yellow tribal nail art I did a couple of weeks ago. It was inspired by the wonderful Drama Queen Nails, but instead of one accent tribal nail I went for the whole shebang. The colours are Sinful Colors Unicorn (pale yellow), Barry M Bright Yellow (neon) and OPI Yellopalooza (mustard). I used a fine paint brush for the patterns, and then topped everything off with Essie Good To Go. Let me know what you think!

Feather Nail Art

Hi everyone! Today I want to show you the feather nail art I created last week. I was really surprised with the response I got for these nails on social - I didn't think they were all that great, but lots of people seemed to like them!

I spotted some gorgeous dream-catcher nail art on Instagram which featured feathers like these, but unfortunately I couldn't seem to track the photo and creator down again (if you know who it is, please let me know as I would love to credit). I used Essie 'Blanc' for the base and then the feathers are Models Own 'Sun Hat', Ciate 'Pepperminty' and Fearne 'Lola Lavender'. Let me know what you think!

Rose Trellis Nail Art

Today I want to show you the nail art I wore last week when I went to watch the X Factor Live Auditions at Wembley. I initially planned to be really cheesy and do an over the top X Factor-inspired design, but I then opted to go for flowers and glitter... And I'm glad I did.

I love how this design ended up looking like little flowers growing up trellises, and effect achieved by narrow white strips (using Essie 'Blanc') over plain nails. My glittery nails are a couple of coats of 'Boudoir Rose' from L'Oreal's Color Riche range, topped with No. 7 'Daisy Darling', which is simply gorgeous. I used a combination of colours for the flowers including Fearne 'Cotton Candy' (lilac), OPI Candlelight (yellow) and No. 7 'Totally Teal' (dark green).

I hope you like them!

Turquoise Flowers Nail Art

Hello! If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram you will have seen this manicure pop up a couple of weeks ago. It's probably one of my favourite manis to date, and it got lots of compliments too. Unfortunately, as always, it only lasted a couple of days - I really need to invest in an at-home gel kit as I'll then be able to do my nail art and apply a sturdier gel top coat. If anyone does this already, please et me know any tips you have!

For this design I used Rimmel 'Let's Get Nude' as a base, and then a combination of polishes for the clusters of flowers, including a favourite of mine Barry M 'Greenberry'. I also used 'Mermaid' from Barry M's Aquarium Collection, which adds a little sparkle to the design.

I hope you like it!

Cocktail Nail Art - Take Two!

Hi everyone. Today I have a really quick post just to show you the recreation of the cocktail nail art I did a couple of years ago. The original post is here, so take a look for a full tutorial and some more information. I can't really decide which version is better, as they are pretty much exactly the same, though I substituted a blue cocktail for a purple one this time around. Let me know what you think :)

Turquoise Leopard Print Nail Art

Hi guys! Today I've given myself the mammoth task of getting up-to-date with all my recent designs. If you follow me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook you will have seen lots of new nail art popping up, but I never got around to doing accompanying blog posts... Oooops. So this lunchtime I'm playing catch up, and scheduling all the posts for the next couple of weeks.

First up today are my turquoise leopard print nails. Leopard print is a pretty standard design in the nail art world, but I tried to funk things up a bit with an unusual colour combo and some studs. The base of my leopard print nails is two coats of Essie 'Blanc', and once dry I dabbed on patches of Barry M 'Greenberry' and Nella Milano 'Turquoise'. I then added the black patches with Sinful Colors 'Black on Black', and finished off with a top coat of Essie 'Good To Go'. For the turquoise nails, I used two coats of 'Greenberry' and added little black gems from a wheel like this one.

Let me know what you think!

Abstract Flower Nail Art

Hello! Today I've done a really quick and easy manicure inspired by a vintage abstract design I tracked down on good old Google images. I fancied doing something that combined neutral and neon shades, and with its bright turquoise and neon pink patterns upon a nude background, this was just the ticket!

Purple Water Marble Nail Art

Morning everyone! Today I decided to try the water marbling technique, which turned out to be extremely stressful and I made an absolute mess. However, after many failed attempts, lots of spills and a huge clean up job, I'm rather happy with the final result. Here's how I did it...

Rose Doodle Nail Art

Hi guys. Today I decided to do something a little different - I went for a kind of 'doodle' design (I'm calling it this because my doodles always seem to consist of flowers and swirls and what-not), with two nails that feature a contrasting border. It's a little bit weird and I can't really work out if I like it or not, but it seemed to photograph pretty well so I decided to post anyway.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame Nail Art

Hi everyone... Today I've done some Disney nail art! I've seen lots of Princesses floating around Instagram and Tumblr recently, in particular Ariel and Snow White, so I thought I'd join in the fun. Back in 2013 I tried my hand at a Pocahontas mani, which turned out pretty well considering I hadn't been doing nail art for that long. Now that I look back, I realise it was rather lacking in terms of detail, and the colours are kind of off, and the finish just isn't that great... But we are our own worst critics after all! Anyway, today I went for another Disney favourite The Hunchback of Notre Dame, recreating Esmerelda and her little goat Djali.

Baroque Neon Nail Art

Happy weekend everybody! Today I'm feeling super productive because I did a big shop, lots of washing and even some cleaning too (including sorting out all my recycling, and making myself look like a raging alcoholic when I dragged a huge, clinking box of wine and beer bottles outside). Then to continue the productivity I had a bit of a blog/brand rejig, and then set to work creating a new nail art design. I even did a proper step-by-step tutorial for this post, so I'm feeling like a good little blogger. Anyway, less of the chat, here's how I created my Neon Baroque nails.

Galaxy Nail Art

Today I've returned to a design that was ridiculously popular a couple of years ago, and then seemed to just fizzle out! It's a shame really, as galaxy nails are arguably one of the easiest and most effective forms of nail art. You only need a few polishes and a couple of basic tools to achieve a mani that's extremely eye catching, in just a matter of minutes!

Alternative Leaves in Blue

Hi everyone! Today my mani is a bit of a weird one - I was sat at the kitchen table (making sure my pulled pork didn't burn for tonight, in case you want to know), trying to come up with some ideas, and suddenly decided it would be a good idea to create a design inspired by my kitchen curtains. Standard. The curtains are actually in shades of green, but after all the gold/white/black/blue dress malarkey that's been kicking off recently, I thought it'd be oh-so relevant of me to work those shades into the design instead. Given, I didn't end up adding gold because I was quite happy with how they turned out with the other three shades, but never mind.

Sequin Mosaic "Mermaid" Nail Art

Hi guys! Today I decided to try something different and give sequin mosaic-ing (I think that's what it's called?) a go. It's not as neat and tidy as I would have liked, but since it's my first time I'll let myself off. By the time I'd completed my full mosaic nails I realised it was rather mermaid-esque, which it what inspired the little tail on my ring finger.
